I started keeping fish as a hobby more than 50 years ago when I caught some wild guppies in a stream in Nairobi, Kenya. These guppies were successfully maintained in a large glass jar without added heating or filtration! At about the same time, I received a present of a Kodak Instamatic camera that started me off in photography.
In England, I became very interested in cichlids because of their fascinating care of their eggs and fry. I combined my two hobbies and started photographing aquarium fish in general and cichlids with fry in particular. I have explored the marine hobby by visiting many hobbyists to photograph their reef aquariums and share their experiences. I also enjoy traveling and exploring and photographing the fish scenes and public aquariums in various countries. In the last 25 years, I have written many articles about tropical fish and my travels for several British and US fish magazines. Here, I will share some of those features with you. Iggy Tavares |
